I would like to use publisher (or another web-design program) to set up a mini site for my subject area. I see you have lots of bland looking tables in the current site. Do we have to fill these in or can we come up with our own natty design but have a link to our other site which can be somewhere else in the system? I only ask this because we need to set our stuff out a certain way but I don't want to upset the corporate image!!!

No Problem at all - any contribution in any form is always very welcome. We can convert or make links to any mini-site made by any web-design program. Microsoft products (Publisher, Frontpage and MSOffice programs) do use a different coding system to all the other HTML programs but our server can cope with this.

We can send you a set of files in publisher format that will act as a template for your mini-site. Just copy the files from the zipped folder to your hard drive (need to do this as links do not work inside a zipped folder), open in publisher and paste in any work, pictures etc that you have done already. In this way, as the mini-site develops it should integrate seamlessly with the rest of the bridgewaterhigh.com site. All the links and style sheets already work in this group of files. You can then create new links or pages as required based around the three key files called main.html. I will keep your mini-site in publisher format so it is easy to add to and update in future by you or other members of the department.

If you have already gone too far with your project to add in the above perhaps send a zipped copy of your files for me to convert or check. [right-click the folder containing your files and chose send to > compressed (Zipped) folder]. This zipped folder can then be emailed without loosing the links.

One final point - when making links you should choose relative path links. Adrian Cook had problems with his publisher website, it would not run from a different location if the links are Absolute.

Linking from the start page (main.html file) in the root folder
Absolute path = D:\Web site\Bridgewater High Website\Science\Biology A Level\Yr12 Biology\main.html
Relative path = /Yr12 Biology/main.html

If you can`t do this easily I can correct at a later stage.
