The Effective Senior Leadership Team

Improving Team Work A Cross Phase Course

£169 + vat

"The three national training programmes for headteachers are intended for individual leaders

rather than leadership groups. However, inspection, headteachers’ comments and good

practice in some LEAs, all indicate the need for leadership and management training to

focus on leadership teams as well as on individual headteachers."    OfSTED (2002)

School Leadership Teams (SLTs) play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the school on a day-to-day basis.  Some SLTs however are teams in name only and do not, for a variety of reasons, achieve their full potential as a locus for the carrying through of the school's medium to long term strategy.  This is a feature common to top management teams in the business sector.  However, there is as yet little to guide those in education seeking to understand how under - or average performance by the SLT can be turned into high performance with pupils, students, teachers and associate staff reaping the benefits that follow.  This event sets out to fill this gap.

Who will benefit?

·         Headteachers - wishing to improve the performance of their own SLTs

·         Current members of SLTs - concerned to improve their own effectiveness and contribution

·         Headteachers elect - wishing to be proactive in planning their approach to their new schools

·         Groups of senior staff - from SLTs in the same school
