An introduction to Mehndi and Indian culture. TASK-To create a title page using text boxs, text sheets and text guidlines, including research. (Colour research and presentation skills must be shown.) Homework- Mehndi research questions |
Complete the title page adding the answers to the Mehndi research questions, pupils must show a good use of colour and presentation skills. |

| 2 | Starter powerpoint on listening skills- working
in
pairs-based on mehndi research gathered for homework, TASK-pupils will exchange gained knowlege practicing good listening skills. Power point link TASK-Develop drawing and design skills, using resources, pupils will continue to build on their listening skills to acuire an understanding of the task. Example of past mehndi designs. |

Learning about batik, health and
safty, history, technique, producing a batik sample/ on paper or fabric. Pupils will work between the batik station and the method worksheet. ( Recap on Listening skills powerpoint) |

Pupils will start their final
batik fabric piece, whilst others developing their hand stitch skills
which will be demonstrated during the lesson (a carousell system will
operate untill all pupils have compleated their batik ) Hand stitches samples to include- running, back.satin, whipping, cross, chain, french knotts, blanket stitch etc......... Homework- Batik research questions, (Possible internet skills powerpoint) |
Pupils will gather research on
Batik answering homework questions, collecting both images and text,
presenting this into their
sketchbooks. (1 week homework) Pupils will also need to complete handstich samples. |

Pupils will use their newly
acuired handstich skills to apply decoration and enhance thier batik
work |
continuouse development of their
final batik piece, adding stitching and embelishment. |
