Lesson
7 Pupils will begin workshops based around distorted and abstract portraits. pupils will be introduced to the abstract or less conventional work of other portrait artist and take part in a series of small tasks and workshops to build skills and confidence in these areas. Mrs Rothwell first Abstract portrait workshop looking at the portraits of Francis Bacon pupils will create a portrait which can be described as stretched, elongated, abstract and distorted pupils will create a 10 min A5 drawing of themselves using the mirrors it should include the best detail possible in the time allocated, then the paper will be cut into stripes horizontally and repositioned so there are slight gaps between each pieces these can be at slight angles as to increase the distorted outcome. pupils will then stick down the stripes ensuring they are in the same/ original order. into the gaps created pupils will join up the drawings thus creating a stretched, distorted elongated portrait of themselves. Homework pupils will create a distorted portrait using similar techniques to those used in class however they will use a photo to do this it can be from a magazine, newspaper or the net. Not a cartoon or animal please. |
